Health Risks Of High Cholesterol Levels
High cholesterol is one of the biggest health concerns these days as it can have serious repercussions on one’s health. There are two types of cholesterols – low density lipoprotein (LDL) and high density lipoprotein (HDL). LDL and HDL are also known as bad and good cholesterol respectively. High LDL cholesterol levels are responsible for various heart diseases. It creates blockage in the arteries that supply blood to the heart, if it develops into plaque. HDL cholesterol drives LDL cholesterol to the liver for disposal but the problem arises when one’s HDL cholesterol levels are lower than the LDL cholesterol levels.

The cholesterol level can also be lowered by consuming weight loss tea. This claim can be substantiated by an experiment conducted on rats by the University of Hong Kong. Under the test, rats were given high-cholesterol diet for one week prior to the actual experiment. The rats were then divided into several groups and each group was given different types of tea. The tea and cholesterol rich diet continued for eight weeks. One particular group of rats was given water instead of tea.
Clincial Studies On Weight Loss Tea
Oolong, Green, Iron Buddha, Puerh, and Jasmine were the different types of tea that were used in the research experiment. The aim of the entire study was to make sure whether fermented teas are as effective as unfermented ones. Green tea is completely unfermented, pureh is totally fermented tea, Oolong and Iron Buddha are partially fermented teas, while Jasmine is a slightly fermented tea. Apart from measuring cholesterol levels, the weight and fattiness of liver were also measured in the mice.
The study concluded that Green and Jasmine tea had a substantial effect on the liver and serum cholesterol levels. Further, these teas also had a significant effect on the fattiness and weight of the liver. However, water and fermented teas left only a little effect. The HDL cholesterol and triglycerides levels did not vary much from group to group.
Weight Loss Teas Better Than Anti-Cholesterol Drugs
The results of the experiment prove that Green tea is highly capable of lowering blood cholesterol levels, provided it is consumed with exercise and varied diet. Drinking tea, especially Green tea, might help in bringing LDL cholesterol levels down and may even stop the existing cholesterol from turning into plaque due to oxidation.
If one is finding it difficult to control the rising bad cholesterol levels, Green tea may prove to be the ideal solution. It offers no harmful side-effects and is well tolerated by most individuals, even by the caffeine-sensitive persons. Green tea not only lowers the bad cholesterol levels, it has also been found effective in lowering cancer, diabetes, and heart disease risk. So, one should certainly add Green tea to his/her regular diet.
